Mi16 Sparkplugs

Recommended Posts

Ethos

Hi guys,

NGK BCP7ET (mi16 non cat)

Champion RC7BMC

These are the recommend plugs for the 1.9 mi16, anyone have a preference? I whipped one out earlier to see what was in (champions), went to halfords but they didn't have either in- doh! (Trade card whore).

Alright to leave the plug out of the thread for a while? I know with most things in the 205 if left it'll rust / cock up :)

Thanks.

Both sets seem to be about £14 on ebay, expensive! I was expecting to walk into halfords and pay a fiver :)

I think ive got think ive got the Ngks in mine.

I know there triple electrode, i got them from a local motor factors.

Plugs are fine to leave out of the head, worth lying a rag over the cam cover or something, just to stop anything dropping in the bores.

I've always been recommended NGK for Pugs by various differet garages so I stuck with them & have never had a problem.

GSF should be able to get the right ones for the Mi if you have one locally , if not any motor factors should be able to source them for you if you ask for them specifically.

Sweet, picked some up a minute ago. £14

I know the champion plugs are 1.6mm gap, should the NGKs be the same? They are 8mm gap at the moment. 3 to do on each spark plug if that's the case, eek!

no, the plugs are pre set to whatever gap is specified for that particular code.

Which is 0.8mm..... but is this ok for the mi16.

0.80mm gap is fine :)

Are they triple or single electrode plugs ? with multiple electrode plugs you'll be wasting your time adjusting the gap (it's not possible anyway cos the earth electrodes are arranged in such way that the earth electrode ends are moved one step back from the center electrode , they don't protrude above the center electrode like on the single electrode plugs , so me thinks that adjusting the gaps wont make any difference in the case of this type of the multiple electrode spark plugs) .. with single electrode plugs you can experiment a little bit wit different gaps , try 0.70 for better top rmp running or 0.90 for more solid idle and better low rmp running ..

Rgs ! B)
