Atari Boy 11 Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) I have just got this rebuild kit for a set of rear 1.9 calipers from Bigg Red. The question is, what are the bits highlighted in red, blue and green for? All the other bits make sense. Thanks in advance Jonny Edited July 23, 2008 by Atari Boy
James Stewart 1 Posted July 23, 2008 When you remove the big black gaiter from the back of the caliper (bottom right in your pic) look for the red item between the bottom of the handbrake cable lever and the big gaiter. The funny shape is so they fit into the grove on the handbrake cable lever. IIRC the parts in blue are the seal between the piston screw and the body of the caliper (inside), they become obvious once you remove the piston screw and the piston and look inside. I don't think I ever did find a home for the parts in green! Hope that helps a little. James.

GTI6BOY 29 Posted July 23, 2008 have a look where the sliders go...there are 3 rings in each slider. those green rings go in the centre of each slider

I did not spot any o-rings in there and assumed the grooves were there to help retain grease for lubrication. Cheers for that, James.
Atari Boy 11 Posted July 24, 2008 I see, great thanks, I bough new sliders, as below. Only two grooves on them (the same as the ones off the caliper infact) Where should the green ones go then? How much was this kit and where did you get it from? I got the kit from Bigg Red, Bigg Red , the kit, new bleed nipples and four new sliders came to £35.78 inc postage. Quickly posted too. James Stewart 1 Posted July 24, 2008 GTI6BOY was referring to the grooves in the caliper body, where the sliders pass through. There are three grooves visable, the outer two retain the slider seals, the centre groove takes the o-ring. James.
