Jacking Points?

Recommended Posts

NeilGTi85

Hello All,

I've allways used ramps when working under the car but its not an option this time.

I have a trolly jack, botle jack and 2 axel stands......I need to work on the manifold & the rest of the system....can I use the trolly jack to raise one side then just put my axel stands under for saftey? :)

If anyone has a pic of the jacking points etc that would be great as I really dont want to damage the car or get crushed :P

Sorry for the beginers Q's but I have to learn sometime :D

Cheers

Neil

Lift it on the sill behind the arches and situate the axle stands under the subframe. If you have a look at m@tts profile on here here has a Haynes manual in his signature, it shows you in there, Page 1 or 2. :)

jack it up under the subframe centrally if your jack will fit under there (drive the car onto 2 blocks of wood if you cant) then place the axle stands at each side of the subframe.

at the rear place the jack under the middle of the beam, axle stands at each end inside of the trailing arms.

I've always jacked on the sill behind the front wheels, but it has started to ebnd and crush the sill which is causing it to rust slightly.

I usually use the sill points, and as above my front nearside poin has completely collapsed and the others are bending out of shape, avoid using them if at all possible!
