marksorrento205 80 Posted July 21, 2008 When I was ditching my standard ecu for a omex setup, I got a bit heavy handed with the original ecu mount plate. I wanted to remove it but it seamed I had to remove the dash. So I tried to yank it free. I just bent it, what a tit. So I reshaped it and mounted my omex ecu to it. Now all my electrics are wired up the central locking randomly actuates up and down a bit. I thought nothing of it until I went to put the drivers window up and nothing. wiggle the wires where the ecu mount plate is they work. Is that part of the loom that passes over the ecu mount plate part of the main loom or a plug in bit?
marksorrento205 80 Posted July 21, 2008 Also if its the main loom, is it easier to change the loom or repair the broken wires? (A proper solder and heat shrink job not a bodge connection job) cheers
pugman211 0 Posted July 21, 2008 i would think that will be main dash loom, and yea, it would be easier to repair broken wires. It sounds like the wire has been crushed against the plate, or maybe even snapped or broken the sheath of the wires. Take the plate off, and have a look behind it. You dont need to remove all the dash i dont think, just the lower section.
marksorrento205 80 Posted July 21, 2008 ........ a lot of messing about later, on my part, i.e dash out it was a simple earth plug on the side of the steering column that had been pulled loose. For info that plate that holds the ecu is held in by the right dash mount stud that goes under the scuttle panel by the wiper motor etc. Cheers for the help
