Pattern Wings, How Bad Are They?

Recommended Posts

j_turnell

My miami needs a replacement nr side wing. Currently my budget cant stretch to a pug one, and getting one unmarked off a car is bit of a mission. What are peoples experiences with pattern wings? Any fitting problems? makes that are good and makes that should be avoided?

Any help appreciated.

cheers, James

Don't bother mate.

I've got a pair of black genuine ones i removed from that northern s*itter which i was going to use the drivers on my mi.

Passenger obviously not required, so im sure we can come to a deal

Just to give some idea on what these are like, Not very good in my opinion. They are a poor fit down the door and at the ends meeting the bonnet. They love to rust too.

Iv got one on my topaz blue car, and the fit is dreadful! there is a tight fit at the top of the door and about an inch gap at the bottom of the door! its a good job the car is just a rat about and the body work is botom of the priority list

I've got one on my sorrento and the fit is fine.

Admittedly it was fitted by Paintguy and had plenty of coats of paint but the others i've seen aren't that bad.

But it did take a lot of work to get it that way :)

The worst area for lining up is at the bottom of the door. It appears that they've been pressed wrongly, and the bottom edge always wants to sit in too far so it doesn't line up with the door. A bit of 'persuasion' before fitting sorted Ed's out (and the two I fitted on mine).
