ccgoose 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Well my 205 has just recently started making this squeaking noise whenever i depress the clutch pedal and i have no idea what it is!! It is literally as soon as i touch it once the car is up to temperatute...any thoughts please?
S13Nick 0 Posted July 18, 2008 sounds like the release bearing to me!
ccgoose 0 Posted July 18, 2008 is it a difficult job ? I'm not mechanically minded at all really so debating whether to get it in to a friend of mine
S13Nick 0 Posted July 18, 2008 its not what i call hard, just takes time. means taking the driveshafts out, and gearbox off, first time i did it, i tackled it alone and took me a day and a half!
ablister 31 Posted July 18, 2008 wouldn't say a worn release bearing causes a squeak
pugman211 0 Posted July 18, 2008 probably the inner clutch cable squeeking on the outer sheath
Paintguy 0 Posted July 18, 2008 Could be either of the above depending on the exact nature of the noise. Is it only happening as the pedal is actually moving up and down or is it still there if you hold the pedal to the floor? If it's the former, then it's either the pedal bushes ( bit of oil will sort that), the cable squeaking (again, a bit of oil if you can get some into it!) or possibly the pivot arm inside the gearbox. If it's making the noise with the pedal held down, then it's more than likely the release bearing (gearbox out job, and you might as well replace the whole clutch whilst you're there)
