2052006 10 Posted July 17, 2008 My 1.9 8v has what can only be described as a very fast "ticking" noise under acceleration, most noticable around 2-3k rpm when the engine revs aren't drowning the sound out. Would this be my tappets - don't really know what these are but it's just a guess!? I can't think what else it would be. It only happens under acceleration but it sounds a bit loud to me. Or possibly injectors? It does sound a bit like my old bmw whose injectors "ticked" quite loudly, but didn't think 205 ones did this. Any thoughts welcome! welshpug 1,657 Posted July 17, 2008 could be either of the 2 things you mentioned. when was the oil changed last? may be worth checking the valve clearances, I think the 1.6 is more prone to cam+tappet wear.
2052006 10 Posted July 17, 2008 oil changed about a month ago, Pug filter as well! It has only suddenly started doing it, it has been fitted for a few weeks now and I am certain it didn't sound like this at first.

Mine is quite tappety but I think mine is down to valve clearance.... I think. Could be blowing from the exhaust manifold gaskets or a crack, I'd check the valve clearance, also check the spray bar for crap stuck in the holes. 2052006 10 Posted July 18, 2008 It was the manifold - looks like I forgot one of the bolts and put two of the gaskets on upside down when I fitted the engine. Plank.
