DamirGTI 342 Posted July 17, 2008 Hello ! Please boys , i need some guidance , my mate have cold starting problems with his car for a last few weeks (it's 90year 1.9 8v Motronic car..) . Basically the problem is just with cold starting , if the car is left over a night or for a few days then afterwards he can't start the engine , no matter how many times he try to crank it ... and then , after a bit of searching/checking/trying he found that - when he unplug the main positive terminal from the battery for say 20 sec. and re-connect it back the engine then starts from the first time ?!?!? Fuel sprays while cranking but theres no spark ?! , cranking speed is good , but the engine just refuses to start from cold until he unplug/re-connect the battery positive terminal .. just to add the engine starts first time if its warm , lukewarm or switched roughly 6 hours ago .. Changed so far : Ignition amp. Coil Another/spare ECU Dizzy cap + arm Leads Plugs Battery Battery positive and earth cables Clean up all the earthing points Any ideas ? Thanks ! welshpug 1,657 Posted July 17, 2008 Tachymetric relay on this car? or separate relays? in either case you need to see if you have power to the coil when cranking
DamirGTI 342 Posted July 17, 2008 No this one is a Motronic car , so it's double relay system - one injection and one fuel pump relay Will see about the voltage at the coil tower . Thanks ! Damir
