Another Identify This For Me Question

As I said, it seems to clip above the fuse board, but exactly:

a.) What is it?

b.) how is it attached to the car (to the body, the dash or the fuse board itself)?

c.) And what wires are supposed to run to that little switch at the top of it?

I came across it along with all the other spare parts that came with my three shells. But I didnt find it when I stripped the last GTI shell, and I cant remember finding it in the original GTI shell. But still, what is it, and would it be good or necessary to have? Could it be something only for XS shells?

Looks to me to be a dash part that holds the glovebox lid in place. Screws together under the lid. the switch is for the light in the glovebox. for ph 1.5 & 2

Yep, I agree with the guys above.

It screws into the very bottom of the dashboard (oriented as in the first picture) and the 'hook' parts are what the glovebox actually hinges on. The switch is indeed for it's light, and you should have a small multiplug in that area with two pins in it to connect it up.

Excuse my ignorance, but that's clearly for a right hand drive car. Do you drive on the correct side of the road over there? :)

Yes we do. So as it's only for ph1.5 and on, I dont need it for my ph1 dashboard then.....So how exactly is the glovebox light set up in ph1 cars? Mine didnt have a light when I stripped it out.
