Pressure In The Fuel System

Recommended Posts

4evernewbie

I decided today that I need to move the fuel filter to give me better access to the master cylinder so I can replace my brake lines.

After loosening the fixings, it wouldn't move far due to the fuel lines.

So I undid the top one and there's full fuel pressure there.

It hasn't been started in about 2wks.

Will I lose much fuel by just ripping the fuel line off or can I drain the pressure elsewhere?

Also, is there any way to check the condition of the filter?

Many thanks,

Paul.

aslong as you dont have the ignition on there shoudlnt be much pressure there.

when i removed my fuel rail from my 8v, i slackened off the nuts that hold the fuel rail on, then used soem old rags to catch the fuel which squirts out, and uncrewed the further of the 2 tubes on the fuel rail, about 100-250ml of fuel came through. very little really. watch your eyes! my firend who was behind me got soem on his face even though he was a good 5 ft away.

hope this helps you a bit.
