Distributor Setting For Mi16 With 8v Ecu.

Recommended Posts

My Mi16 engine has been running with the 8v ECU setup for years now. I will eventually convert it over to Motronic, but haven't got the time at the moment.

Currently I've got a dizzy adaptor with the Bosch distributor using the vacuum advance. However, is it true that removing it and fixing the advance gives a better performance? If so, which way do I fix it (fully advanced, or retarded)? Do I need to readjust the distributor's overall rotation too?

i think you need to adjust it while the engine is running, its what i have been told. too far in eithe rdirection, and your manifold will glow due to misfiring etc...

i think the position varies slightly from engine to engine.

to do this just slacken off the bolts holding it in, not much, just enough to move it slightly in either direction.

wouldnt bother altering it though if its running fine as it is. maybe cam it xD
