Foot On Brake Pedal - Off Goes Radio

As the title suggests i went to the car today and every time i put my foot on the brake pedal the radio dies, has anyone had this problem before?

I had this before and IIRC it was the start of my alternator failing.

 

It could also just be a bad earth.

i'd second the bad earth, had a similar problem on my stereo, the stereo had the bad earth, whenever i put my radio, the rear lights went out ... very dangerous !!

 

got the earth sorted, and the problem sorted itself.

i also had this when my alternator belt snapped. Hadn't realised it had snapped (light never came on?) until i opened the bonnet to check for the fault and the belt wasn't there!
