Recommended Posts

Super Josh

What Torsion Bars are people running with their Eibach springs? Standard, +1mm?

I was thinking the same last week. Probably be good to go for the same increase at the rear as the front but I have no idea what rate std springs or 7001's are.

If it's helpful to choosing the bars, I just heard back from Eibach that the springs are progressive and rated at 14N/mm to 42N/mm or 80lb/inch to 239lb/inch.

Not sure where in that range would be a useful working average, 60%-70% of max......?

That's almost exactly what I measured them to be! (Chufty badge for me please). I ran 20mm bars on my 205 Rallye with them and std GTI ARB, it was simply awesome, the best original geometry (with 309 arms) I've driven by far. Quick rack and Challenge Bilsteins too.

This is my exact current setup except I'm using softer front springs (185lb) and it is indeed awesome. :)

After lots of reading on this, I'm going to go with 20mm torsion bars and a 23mm anti-roll bar. This is mainly for road use and the occasional track day.

I am on standard GTI bars and a 21mm ARB. Nice smooth ride for me but it is suitably stiff around corners. However that is on a CTI so the weight distribution is slightly different

Next question then ;)

What measurement between the rear damper mounts have people used to lower the rear to match the 7001 fronts, with standard rear TBs?

Mine is too low at the back, but still has a good ride. I will raise mine up a bit at some point

i used a dumbass shock length of 315mm from centre to centre on my 205 beam with standard TBs and those eibach springs. worked out pretty well, although at first i thought it was it was too low at the rear but then the springs sagged a bit so it evened up nicely now!!

i wouldnt mind trying some 20mm bars with my 24mm arb
