Grim.Badger 15 Posted July 8, 2008 I've just run a compression test (128, 172, 168, 180) and now the engine taps really loudly as if the piston is smacking on something. I have checked all the plugs and its not them and I'm fairly sure nothing fell down into the chambers. The tapping gets faster when I rev the engine. The tapping began slowly when I started the engine up and is now constant; I think it might be cylinder 2 as when I took the spark plug out to check for contact a load of smoke came out. The engine seems to run fine except for the tapping I'm thinking one of the valves got stuck and is now bent, anyone got any ideas Please help, I need my car to get into work and go to the hospital tomorrow
Grim.Badger 15 Posted July 8, 2008 I've just been playing with it; with all the plugs in but NOT connected to their HT leads there is No tapping, but as soon as you connect up the HT leads and try to start it it taps When I disconnect each HT lead at a time and try it still taps. WTF is going on? I'm going to try a spare set of leads after dinner but other than that I'm stumped
Dream Weaver 2 Posted July 8, 2008 Could be ones of the leads arcing? I'd be more worried about that 128 reading on cyl 1 or
Grim.Badger 15 Posted July 8, 2008 I'd be more worried about that 128 reading on cyl 1 or 4 I would be if it wasn't for the tapping
