Guest wakster Posted July 7, 2008 As in the title are driver side and passenger side door locks different? Or did they change between phases? i bought a lock set from gsf wired up the ignition so i could bring my car home (lost keys) When i tried to change the drivers side barrel the old and new mechanisms are completely different... Now this is where it gets interesting, the set was missing 1 new barrel, the guy said he'd sort me out another one for the weekend but it would probably be a different key. I took the incomplete set because i need my car tomorrow and he knocked some cash off and i was hoping i could order a matching barrel from valeo. So to save me dismantling another door card are the two locks different? Cheers guys, Ben
jord294 92 Posted July 7, 2008 the door lock barrels are different. iirc the original peugeot lock is grey for the drivers side, and white for the passenger side. in other words, the locks are handed

steve@cornwall 100 Posted July 7, 2008 But you can swap the plastic bits (beaters?) over. I swap locks around on most Pugs, as the pass side usually is less worn and the return spring may even still work

I swap locks around on most Pugs, as the pass side usually is less worn and the return spring may even still work now i've done this a couple of times and have found 1. when swapping over the plastic bits, they always tend to split slightly, so they won't clip onto the opposite lock properly and 2. if using the passenger door lock on the drivers side. the key doesn't turn as fully to lock the door, and have found that a good yank of the door handle will actually unlock it that's just experience i've had
