Changing Upper Engine Mount. Grrrr..

Recommended Posts

Rich_p

Right I finally started to work on the 309 this weekend. I have a full set of Group N mounts to go on so I started with the drivers side top mount.

I undid the 4 nuts and removed the top plate only to find the mount in 3 bits as it is so perished! My question is how do I remove the lower half as the threaded rod at the top with the allen key whole is now separate from the rest of the mount!

I have an airfield day so need to get this done one evening this week.

Is it a drill out and re tap job?

I'm not Mr Technical so I'm, hoping it's not going to be to difficult!

Chisel, and a decent hammer, and tap the metal base lip to undo

The base of the mount is metal and has three large recesses in it (looks like a big version of a castleated nut). Use a blunt cold chisel and a big hammer to turn the mount until it unwinds.

If it doesn't want to budge spray a little penetrating oil / WD40 underneath were it screws in and then hit it harder!

James.
