Mi16 Conversion Won't Start

Recommended Posts

Ethos

Hi guys,

Managed to get the MI16 all in and plumbed, couple of observations. The stop light is on and the oil pressure light + coolant light is on.... although the engine hasn't started yet so not THAT concerned about that.

She turns over but doesn't catch.

Missus tells me we didn't have that much petrol left, but the light wasn't on and I turned it over enough for it to pick some up i'd think.

Any ideas where I should start, not very good at troubleshooting....

Thanks

First thing to do would be to check if you have spark and the injectors are firing. :)

Cool, thanks mate.

I can smell fuel... so I think i'm good that side. (Probably flooded it now :)).

I'll run a search on the best way to check spark / injectors.

Well I think i've sorted it, I forgot to connect the ignition amplifier.... cool and also there was an earth that needed connecting.

It has no exhaust connected at the moment, I THINK she fired up ok but it was so loud I sh*t my pants and turned it off. I live in a quite close....

No to at least try and connect the downpipe up even tho it won't fit all the way down for testing......... :)

Well I tried to fit the downpipe up properly so I could start her again and not deafon / annoy the neighbours and it started CHUCKING it down. I hid under the car for a bit but it got too heavy

Just want to get it running for 5-10 minutes and check for leaks and then i'll tow it to a garage and get the exhaust sorted!

How's your lazer?

Hee Heee! Sun was shining when I started- then came the downpour just as I dropped the beam off the Graphite. Pushed it back on the trolley jack :) as it was 1/2 out the garage , and went home. Good job it didn't happen when the beam was off the laser.

Just working out the niggles on the laser, and putting my susp. / brakes on. Have to say I won't miss the lowered beam or SBC struts, but I will miss the GTi-6 brakes :D

The bay needs some tidying up now, lots of bits and pieces on it!

Very happy it's at least running, i'm sure some find tuning will be needed :)

Mi16 loom but obviously kept the brown multiplugs under the dash, it's very neat and tidy in the bay. I'll try and get some pics soon, i'm very happy with it.
