Different Thickness Of Mi16 Manfold To Downpipe Flange Gasket?

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

now then all

i got a new flange gasket for my modded downpipe at stil at the seal where the downpipe meets the manifold, its leaking a tiny bit.

to me, the welded flange looks good and at the correct angel i hope, it seems to be leeking at the top, was wondring if there was such thing as a thicker flange gasket to cure this, so i can put it on and squeeze it together hopefully sealing the top of the flange.

i put some gasket paste on it, i knwo ur not meant to do it, but it will only wear away, hence why im posting.

thanks

danny

ps i know its leaking also as when i put my blower on, i can smell the fumes in the car, must be getting in from the scuttle panel air feed.

i have heard that there is different thickness of gaskets, why they fit straight for the bin, what are the o.e ones so much better than the aftermarket ones?

Most motor factors tend to sell really crappy exhaust gaskets. I bought one and it was made of what looks like condensed cardboard!

The OE gaskets are made of woven wire.
