mr2haz 0 Posted July 5, 2008 I have taken the car for a drive on the motorway to discover all is not well. Holding the car at steady speeds the car judders. It is not a heavy judder but the car is not going smoothly. This is at its worst at around 2.5k-3k rpm and is smoother by 4k. It is less noticable when acelerating then driving at steady speed although there was the odd rare time it bogged down and wouldn't pick up for a few seconds. Any ideas on what this is? Dan Ingram 1 Posted July 5, 2008 Check the usual. Plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm. Could be something breaking down.
mr2haz 0 Posted July 5, 2008 I have recently replaced all the above.
kyepan 291 Posted July 5, 2008 Sounds like my girlfirends Mazda when oil got into the distributor, check the cam shaft oil seal / distributor O ring oil seal under the distributor, it's only two bolts, mark the position with a scribe, remove it and check the seal. Could be oil ingressing into the distributor and fouling it up. Also check for oil in the dizzy cap, on the dizzy cap / leads.. generally have a look at all the ignition componenets, check them for dirt oil and gunk, give them a clean, check they are making good contact. Does it bog down more when in a high gear at low speed accelerating, like 4th at 30mph, wide open throttle. Failing that simple stuff it might be an ignition amplifier, is it worse when hot? mr2haz 0 Posted July 5, 2008 I'll have a look but the cap was only recently replaced and I noticed no oil on it at the time. I notice it more on the motorway so 5th gear around 70mph. Can't say if the temperature has a bearing on this has the car has warmed up by the time I reach a road I can do such speeds on.
