8v Turbo Timing Marks Dont Line Up

Recommended Posts

dan druff

evening

i am in the middle of removing the head and have gone to time up the engine and noticed that the crank pulley and camshaft will not line up to there respective positions ie camshaft pulley around 7-8 oclock and crank pulley 11 oclock

,i have heard there is an issue with the crank pulleys being faulty. can anyone confirm or does anyone know of any issues as the engine was running fine but i cant get my head round the timing marks at least a quarter turn awy fro where they should be

cheers

Get yourself a genuine cam belt from Pug they have white lines on them that line up with dots on the actual toothed pulleys meaning that you just cant get it wrong,This is a very common prob with the crank pulleys on these engines and has been covered before
