I Have A Leaky And Blocked Injector!

Recommended Posts

Injector on cylinder number 4 is blocked and inject on number 3 is leaking!

So, after 5 years I've finally got to the bottom of all my engine problems! :(

You've been running on 3 cylinders the last 5 years? :D

Maybe it will fix your warm start problems then.

Hehe no, only at certain temperatures. But yes, warm starts it's blocked.

Not yet.

A mate says he might have some spare injectors at his parents house but he's not checked yet and as he's offered them to me for free I can hardly tell him to get over there ASAP or else lol.

If the injectors have been sitting unused for a while, there is a good chance they won't work. It is common for them to seize when not in use.

Tap them gently on the bodies to try and loosen them, if need be.

Well, I just replaced the blocked injector with another from Miles and so far so good.

BUT what's kinda interesting is that the blocked injector is a "760" and not a "762" as on all 1.9s. Strange. Maybe that's why it wasn't working.

Just checked - the 760 is for a 2 litre SAAb (191.8cc/min). Correct Mi injector 762 is 213.9cc/min.

5 years on a wrong injector! Sorry engine hehe

Yeah they are.

Warm starting is now better, and going on and off throttle is less jumpy.

If I were you I'd invest £45 in getting them cleaned properly. There is a place in Hull that does them, if you post them next day delivery they turn them round and send them straight back, so turnaround time is 3 days. I've used them recently, I think the web address is www.injectorcleaning.co.uk or similar.

Cheers Tom, but I can get it done in town for £30, and that also includes replacing all the baskets and other bits.

Back to the drawing board. Looks like it's the connector or wiring. Or something else. :)

I'd get all four cleaned first, see if that helps, can definitely rule out the injectors then and move onto connectors, wiring and other diagnoses
