Relocating Front Washer Bottle

Recommended Posts

Right, well I was going to reply to this topic but it's from 2007 so no replies allowed. So forgive me for starting a new topic about an old subject :P

I've just been out to test fit my new washer bottle on the drivers side to see how it would go (to free up some space for the airfilter where the washer bottle usually goes). I know other's have done this, and M@tt posted a picture of his.

Mine was a really tight fit, and without removing the headlight panel, I could only get it in with the cap and pump removed. But once in position there was no way the pump would have fitted! What confuses me even more, is that looking at M@tt's photo of his, I can't even see his pump (should be on the corner nearest the engine mount).

So now I'll just keep it in the standard location and live with the airfilter being squashed up like everyone else with an Mi does ;). But thought I better bring this up in case anyone else has come across it.

i kept the same orientation of the bottle as on the passenger side so the pump is actually under that panel in the bottom left hand corner of that pic

I've given up on the idea of moving the standard one after having it under the scuttle, it fitted well one way round but then wouldn't pick up half the contents and when turned didnt fit as well at all. I did consider behind the headlight on the other side too, but i like easy access to the lights etc. ;)

Just going to find something like a Mk2 fiesta bottle as it's a nice square compact size, easy to mount anywhere.

You could always get rid of the front bottle completely and use the rear bottle, run a long pipe from it to the jets and a wire from the fuseboard to the rear motor.

The easy way to make the rear washer work as the front is a simple wiring mod to the plug to the wiper stalk, not hard, and easy to put back if you ever wanted to as well.

Can you explain that a bit further? Because that is the option I like to try. And if there is an easy solution for the wiring, then please explain.

thanks
