Peetypug 5 Posted July 1, 2008 started my 205 yesterday, then noticed it was blowing bubbles of oil out of the filler cap. I can only think of 3 reasons for this 1, blocked breather pipe 2, head gasket gone 3, gases getting past the piston rings. I know i can do a compression test to see if its the piston rings, but how can i check the other 2?
johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted July 1, 2008 1. take it off and poke summit through to unblock it 3. check oil to see if its got water in it, and check water for oil, or go to the garage and they should be able todo a gas test thing for you for quite cheap
James_R 3 Posted July 1, 2008 Try putting the cap on 180 deg round, they do it if the rubber doesn't seal properly on the top. seen it a couple of times.

Peetypug 5 Posted July 7, 2008 right a quick update everything is not good came back up today and started the car all seemed fine then small bubbles from filler cap i was a little bit annoyed i pulled the dipstick out while it was running and pop loads of pressure and oil everywhere so any ideas? i know i shouldn't have pulled the dipstick out but cant believe its meant to have that much pressure behind it! Peetypug 5 Posted July 7, 2008 right, just had another look turns out one of the breathers should of had a T piece in but didn't its the pipe on the left from the rocker cover to the throttle body and air filter hoses it wasn't vented so was building up back pressure and blowing it out just hope it hasn't done and damage to any of the oil seals! its now purring like a cat
gti-si 0 Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) Which one is that Pete? the 6 or the XSi? Edit: Just re-read the title, dosey tits Edited July 7, 2008 by gti-si
Peetypug 5 Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) here's some pics of the offending problem the braided hose in the middle was straight to the throttle body like this and that solved the pressure problem i then left it ticking over to charge the battery after adding a 12v supply to the alternator went for a brew and when i came back there was smoke coming from the grill below the windscreen so the battery was whipped off quick as possible! and now i've had enough so i'm stripping it!!! taylorspug 7 Posted July 7, 2008 Were the wipers on by chance? If the motor has seized that would smoke if the wipers were left on, although usually it just melts the switch.
Peetypug 5 Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) they were on earlier but i cant remember turning them off. They were very very slow though. But what makes me think it wasn't the wipers is that the smoke was coming out of the right side of the grill as you look at the car Directly above the heater matrix Edited July 7, 2008 by sorrentopete
