John_205_GTi 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Does anyone know the length of the brake pipes that run from the caliper to the flexible hose on the rear beam? thanks
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted June 30, 2008 Just made these pipes up for my 1.6 and they are 19" so i would imagine a 1.9 would be 3-4 inches shorter as you have flexy pipes from the caliper. Best bet is to remove the pipes and use the originals as patterns.
welshpug 1,657 Posted June 30, 2008 easier to do away with the short flexi pipes to the caliper like the 306 does, the 2 lines I have here are measuring up to roughly 28" and 29"
jord294 92 Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) when fitted from new, the metal brake lines measured 500mm, which is roughly 20". this is from the flexi bracket on the shock absorber bottom bolt ,to the flexi bracket mounted on top of the caliper that's the measurement i used when i re-newed my brake lines about 3 weeks ago Edited June 30, 2008 by jord294
paul205mi16 4 Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) Would it cause any long term problem doing away with the flexi hose? Must be a reason it was done like this!? Edited June 30, 2008 by paul205mi16
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted June 30, 2008 No it wouldnt as there only real pupose is if there is movement like you have on the front with steering. Theres no movement on the back apart from the beam flexy pipes so you can effectively ditch them, as mentioned 306's etc dont have them.
