Ethos 0 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) Can I even replace the bolt+nut? Edited June 29, 2008 by Ethos
Ethos 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Or is it worth just getting a new set?; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-205-306-CITR...id=p3286.c0.m14 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRACK-ROD-END-ENDS-P...id=p3286.c0.m14
welshpug 1,657 Posted June 29, 2008 if its just the nut you have damaged and the joint is still nice and stiff then yes you can just replace it, beware that the O.E thread size is finer than std, but a dealer should be able to supply a suitable replacement. Its worth getting branded OEM parts as they dont cost significantly more, I usually get my parts from GSF or ECP, though I'm not familiar with their branches down your way both do Mail order. Ethos 0 Posted June 29, 2008 £16 from GSF or about £12.50 from ebay it seems... I'm tempted for £13 odd to replace the whole tie rod ends. Is it simply a case of unscrewing it from the main rod (counting turns) and then screw the new ones in... or is it a right pain? The joint seems fine but the nut is just spinning, doesn't matter which way I go it won't move. Boohoo!
adamc 0 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) i did the same thing on my pug a few months ago, i just got a new tie rod end, only £4 for partco (uniparts). Bargin! ( i did try replacing the bolt, but never found out the size. mine was not a metric size) Edited June 29, 2008 by adamc
Ethos 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Just ordered these; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-205-306-CITR...id=p3286.c0.m14 May as well for £12, seems a bit crap updating / putting the mi16 in and using the old rusted bolts part etc.. Maybe I should use the rule if I take it off, replace with new. Now.... I just need money.
