wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted June 26, 2008 does anyone who hillclimbs/sprints a 205 use a uprated clutch, say a Helix with Organic Plate!?? i have one brand new from demon tweeks but i didnt fit it this season and am wondering if my launches and gear changes would advantage from fitting this clutch?!? the standard doesnt seem to have a massive bite like an uprated one would have what has anyone tried and found?!?!? cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted June 26, 2008 we used a sinter-plated 4-paddle unsprung plate with standard cover and release bearing (we now use two of them ) and the advantage is noticable - more bite and much faster on gearchanges. maybe a bit shakey on easy starts (sometimes!). markw 1 Posted June 26, 2008 hi wardy i used a solid centre cerametallic 4 paddle clutch with standard cover and bearing on my sprint and hillclimb car was much better than a standard one, careful though as once you get to about 180bhp the standard one starts to struggle, especially the tyre warming and launching we do, i know use a 71/4" lug drive race clutch with cerametallic plate which lasts much longer
wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted June 26, 2008 cool so retain the standard clutch cover and plate and simply get a uprated clutch plate?!? where do you get these plates from!??! and whats a 71/4" lug drive race clutch?!? thanx for the replies

James_R 3 Posted June 27, 2008 Raldes do Valeo competition clutchs, the unsprung plates are not too bad about £80 from memory. I'm running a spung paddle cluch on an Mi flywheel. Using the Diesel cover plate is meant to be a useful upgrate on the standard one.
wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted June 28, 2008 ive done a quick search on the internet about these Raldes clutches but cant find much,do you have a site link at all?! So a Diesel 205 Clutch Cover with some sort of 4 paddle clutch plate is the best solution?!
ifcho 0 Posted June 28, 2008 Nick, do you wish to share some details about the design of your clutch?
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted June 28, 2008 no details really, what you see is what you get . it made by a guy that makes clutches for Serbian racers.
ifcho 0 Posted June 28, 2008 I was more curious where did you find the friction plates... I guess I can make the middle metal section from old clutch parts and some lathe help
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted June 28, 2008 yeah you can use the center part from the standard clutch. we once got it replated at a local place that does truck clutch reparation actually.
