Engine Dies When Lambda Is Unplugged?

Recommended Posts

felix2566

I have been having problems with my Gti6, one of them is that when the lambda is unplugged the engine slowly stops running. It takes about 15-20 seconds before it stops. I was under the understanding that it should run with out the lambda? If I unplug it and the engine is close to stalling and I plug it back in it will slowly pick up again.

It is the same with three different sensors I have tried.

Can any one shed any light onto why this might be?

Sounds like it may be running VERY rich (due to another sensor problem) they should still run with the Lambda unplugged albeit a bit rich btu it shouldnt make it stall.
