Ball Joint Boots

Recommended Posts

Ok, ive brought a set of (good condition) wishbones off ebay fitted with polybushes, however typical of ebay once arrived i found the ball joint boots had splits in both, now the ball joints seem nice and stiff and only movable with a lot of force, or light taps from a hammer, but i was wondering if and where i could sorce replacement boots , or should i glue glue them.

Does anybody know where the best place to get new ball joints is? Just my local automotive parts dealer?

I take it the can be purchased seperately and I don't need a whole new wishbone? Also if they were a bit worn and wobbly could this cause the driveshafts to leak transmission fluid where they meet the gearbox or is this just definately replacement oil seals needed? thanks.

Nope, if the wishbone balljoint has packed up, then its a new wishbone I'm afraid.

Gearbox oil leaking at the box end of the shaft could be a number of things, doubt a rogered balljoint could cause it unless you disturbed it whilst seperating balljoint from hub.
