Road Legal Slicks: What Sort Of Pressure For Santa Pod?

As above peeps, ive got a set of advans for trackdays/santa pod stuff and the like and wondered what sort of pressure you guys use?

 

Whats best for trackdays, and whats best for Pod?

Try them at 26psi all round Stu, thats the pressure a friend runs these at on a rally car, might need a bit less on a track maybe 23psi as track surfaces can heat the tyres up more than Road.

 

After a session check the pressures, and the temperature across the tyre, they should wear fairly evenly if you get it right.

Santa pod wise 18 at the front and 35 rears, (provided we are talking about a fwd 205 :lol:)

Yeah, its quite light (stripped out with cage and buckets) so ill try mid-20's, and run them a little lower on pod days, say 18-20.

I would agree with that but would go higher in the rears on Pod days say 40+ to lower rolling resistance, every little helps :(

Personnally i would run the rears at 40 and start the fronts on 30, If you struggle for traction, start reducing the pressure little by little, this way you do not waste energy further up the track with tyre pressure that are slowing you down. You may find if its a hot day and the pod conditions are good that you will have oodles of grip and dropping the pressure would be a waste of time. You may just end up at 18 psi anyway with still no traction. Be sure to check your tyre pressures just as you come of track too as after a burn out and run the pressures will be higher than what you put in before the run. Just play around with it on the day. lower pressure in front tyres will give more grip, but more drag at high speed too.

 

as for the rear end, you want high-pressure narrow tyres for least rolling resistance ;).
