Help Me Find The Correct Part Number.

Recommended Posts

I am trying to get the correct thermostat cap for my car as per this image:

However I got part 1336.86 from Peugeot which did not have the bleed valve, and the screws holes were in a different position, meaning when I put it on the outlet was pointing about 45 degrees in the wrong direction. Like this:

Can anyone advice the correct part number from the Servicebox? I can't face trying to explain what I want to my local parts guy.

1336.88, 1336.86 is for the XU5M automatic which has a gearbox mounted heat exchanger.

hiya mate

the only other number that i have is 1337.88.

this is a plastic cap, but states it is for xu9 engine.

perhaps it has already been changed by a previous owner to a different type?

I've found 2 possible ones listed

1337 84 INJECTION AND XU - WATER OUTLET - UNTIL DATE 19901203 EXCEPT XU5M

1337 76 CARBURETTOR AND XU51C - WATER OUTLET - UNTIL DATE 19901201

i'd be trying the 1337 84 one first

I got the number I posted originally using the details in your signature for your car details so that number should be the right cap for your car but it isn't unheard of Peugeot sending an incorrectly bagged & numbered part.

I go with Matt's suggestion & try for the 1337 84, thats the same part number as listed for the pre 1990 cars which always had the alloy ones like in your picture afaik.

The Alloy and Plastic one's use a different Dia housing, Nothing that some sealent can;t correct but you cannot reverse it by putting a Plastic cap on a Alloy housing from memory on the 8v's, I know the 16v's are like this, Again why it changed, God knows is that makes sense.

Another problem if not fixed is the Part network went down today so getting parts again is anyone's guess
