hi all,

i have noticed my pug which is cherry red has started developing white patches on the paint work, on my bonnet, and roof.

Its like the laquer has come away from the paint, and it looks like bird muck, but not.

not a happy guy at the mo, so is the car cover to blame????... i bought it to protect my red paint from the sun. I give up!!!!

oh the car cover is fleaced lined.

thanks

danny

Sounds like is just oxidising to me,when you polish or T Cut it do you get any red paint on the cloth?

IF it IS single stage paint then the above entioned T Cut and then follow up with Autoglyms super resin polish, all avalible over the counter at Halfords.if it Isnt SS paint are there any signs of the clear coat failure?like a blistering of the clear?(is that what you ment by looks like bird muck?)It there is and you've got clear coated paint then I'm afraid its a respray.

Don't think its the cover is to blame more likely it needed more regular TLC in cleaning (washing, polishing, waxing) to stop the UV damage ,dont happen to use washing up liquid as a shampoo do you?

well it has small blisters, tiny they are and you can feel them two when you rub ur finger over them. I use auto glym wash stuff, not washing up liquid, same thou as i have looked after it with regular washing and waxing.

Take it into a bodyshop that has a good reputation and ask them their opinion, sorry it sounds like the clear coat has failed and the only thing to do is a respray.
