No Clutch Cables At Peugeot!

Recommended Posts

BusEngineer

Replaced the clutch in my 89 1.6 on Friday (what a nightmare job, took 2 hours to get the gearbox back on, then had to hook everything up ;) )

Anyway on my lunch break on friday i nipped down to my local pug dealer in stoke for some oil and a clutch cable. I was informed that there arent any available throughout thre country!! The guy doesnt know if they are discontinued or on back order in France!

So my question is does anyone know where i can get a OE cable from, or am i going to have to get one from GSF (if so any idea on part number?)

Cheers

KRISKARRERA

There's always loads of them on ebay, albeit non-genuine usually.

Got my clutch cable from GSF several years and 20,000 odd miles ago, no problems with it. Sorry can't help with part number, should be clear on their website presumably.

Thanks for the advice

Reading threads on here a genuine one was recommended, will the GSF part be as good a quality?

Lots of clutch cables on ebay as KRISKARRERA said. However if you want them from Peugeot here's the part nr:

gearbox BE3: 2150 A2

I've never had problems with pattern clutch cables.

Sorry, my mistake

I'll ask at my local dealership, they have alot of old parts in stock... I didn't have a problem getting a BE1 clutch cable. I've used a pattern cable before, never again... Put a pattern cable on and the clutch was very stiff, checked the cable and it seemed fine. Replaced the clutch, still stiff... The cable was to blame. I always get Genuine cables from now on, even a mechanic told me that pattern cables can be trouble.

From looking on service box you could have a choice even getting one from Peugeot;

  • 2150 96 01 CABLE-CLUTCH - XU AND RIGHT HAND DRIVE SINCE DATE 19880701 28.24 GBP
  • 2150 97 01 CABLE-CLUTCH - XU AND RIGHT HAND DRIVE SINCE DATE 19880701 25.10 GBP

They should still be available though if they are shown on servicebox & you can add them to the basket afaik.

Graham.
