Turbo Cooling System

I gather some of you guys have been having cooling system probs.(Although most seem to be 16v motors they seem to be plumbed in the same as my 2.0it)

I found initially, that until the thermostat opened, when reving up water would be forced out of the rad cap overflow(New 13psi).At the same time the rad top hose sucks in,as a vacuam is created by the pump trying to flow against the thermostat.

As a result air is sucked in via the bleed pipe on the top of the rad from the top of the header tank, creating further air locks and raising the water level in the tank.

Have now done away with the rad bleed pipe to the header(Now short blank for intial bleeding).

Also fitted a 22psi cap.

Retained the air bleed off hose from the top of the thermostat housing to the header as water flows out when reving up and acts as a constant air bleed to the top of the tank.

Dont run the engine when opening bleed points(Mine are on top heater hose and on the outlet of the t-stat housing)as air will be sucked in.Just fill header tank and bleed by gravity.

Is now really stable and isnt using water.

BTW had it on a rolling road on sataday.Made 155bhp at the wheels at 0.8 bar, with c/o off the scale at top end.

Was expecting it to be leaning off when approaching 180brake(flywheel).
