I can't find an interval for changing the PAS fluid in any of the Haynes manual's or handbooks I have.

Check the colour of the fluid, if its properly black then change it. There is a possibility it hasn't been changed in the life ot the car so for the sake of £5 for the fluid & a couple of hours work its worth doing imo.

IIRC usual colour is more green than black.

I thought it was red ATF but my memory has proven to be a bit flaky recently ;)

Mines not ATF fluid just Comma PSF but it is a very dark red (almost brown) & with it in a yellow container you have a point Kieran.

Either way if the fluid is black change it now before your pump dies.

The label on the back says the shelf life of the oil is five years so maybe you shuld change the PAS fluid every five years at least.

I just checked the haynes and it definitely specifies ATF, Dexron II to be precise. That should be red and it goes brown as it oxidises and finally black.
