Ethos 0 Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) Hi guys, Looking to remove the old 8v loom, had a look under the dash- was hoping it'd be a bit simpler to do!! (As you do). luggy 13 Posted June 19, 2008 The best way I found without chopping loom and bending ECU plate mount. 1. Remove both windscreen wipers. 2. Open bonnet, remove scuttle panel. There are two nuts which hold the dash in place N/S and O/S 3. Undo other nut under dash just above the ECU mount plate, visible in first phot. 4. Pull the dash, drivers side away from windscreen, the bolt which goes from dash to under scuttle panel retains the ECU mount plate, this should then hopefully drop down allowing you to remove the loom. Awesome thanks mate, I've got to the no3, which one is it? I cant see anything I can take off!!! Edit, found where you where you mean. Lower the steering colum (4 11mm nuts). Chop the ecu plug and taccy relay. Lay on your back in the foot well and look up and there are 2 cable ties holding the loom in. I've removed the main lower plastic bit from the drivers side, anything else to take out? I'll try lowering the steering column and see where I am then!! Its only a rough guide just to get the 8v loom without cutting any wires. To remove the whole dash you've got 4 retaining nuts, 2 on N/S 2 O/S, you'll need to remove some retaining screws by the glove compartment, looking in and up, also you'll need to remove the instrument cluster cover and dials, but theres no real need to remove the dash to do an Mi install. Ethos 0 Posted June 19, 2008 Well, I got it out.... the dash is like semi off, well enough to get the loom out cleanly. GOD knows how I'm going to get it all back on smoothly, but going to keep it this way until I get the other loom in now. Happy Ethos!!!
