wing incl rallye arches are € 370 incl shipping. Could take a while before 1 have them here because they are made on order.

 

I dont know of they are the same as here above.. the ones i sell are vacum molded. Dont think the ones above are the same because it a huge price differences. Only thin i know the ones i have are TOP Quality !

Off to the tyre fitters today.

 

First up, I'm having R888s (Cheers, Spiky!) fitted to the C5 Wheels and I've ordered some Toyo Proxes T1Rs to fit to the 434s.

 

Once I'd finished spraying the 434s, I decided to go for a polished lip.

Perhaps not the most obvious choice for a rallye, but I keep referring back to other (standard) cars in Peugeot's back catalogue for inspiration. Close inspection of the original 205 T16's alloys reveal a polished lip, so I thought, if it's good enough for that, it's good enough for this! :lol:

I think it would look great..the pts rims are 7J right ? would be a struggle to fit them :( My tirespecialist shop here always mounts my tire's for free because i bring him new customers...

 

he does fit R888's on 7j rims but he had to have an ice cream as payment :D looked a bit :lol: heheh

Yep, that's right, they're 6.75. I went for 195s. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a guy had managed to get away with 175s! :( Looked right on the limit though...

Finally managed to set aside some time today and start with the body modifications.

 

First up, I removed the bumper, grille and lights in order to get at the wings.

I now know why people kept wishing me luck when I told them I was planning on swapping the wings over. They're a nightmare to remove! I'm afraid I had to bend them at all angles to get enough leverage and break the sealant. At the back of my mind, I kept thinking that if all goes wrong with these composite panels, I can always put all the old steel items back on. Not anymore...

On a side note, I discovered that all the hassle of swapping the wings over is going to save me a grand total of 2.2kgs! The steel wings, with a bit of sealant, weigh approx. 2.7kgs each. Whereas the kevlar wings weigh 1.6kgs. The kevlar wings do have the intergrated rallye arches though, so will save me a few hundred grammes on top! :(

Damm..i though the metal + normal arches would allmost be the same weight... My normal arches left me a few time on the highway that was my main reson..nice to hear and looking good jonny !

It's too late now, but... you can remove the wings without bending them. The sealant will soften when heated, so with a hot air gun the wings come off quite nicely.

I did wonder that, but my garage is located separate from my house (well, my parents house actually), so I'd need one hell of an extension cable, dragged across several neighbour's gardens. And, as usual, I was in a rush and just wanted them off!

Spent the last couple of days fitting the new bonnet, wings, lights and bumper:

It was immediately obvious how far off Halford's Alpine White is from the real thing! Or perhaps my spraying technique is not too good. The colour difference, together with not being able to get a decent gloss finish (4 cans of lacquer in and an arm full of rubbing compound, and it's still matt!), leaves it in desparate need for a propper paint job!

The Panel fit is not quite what I'd hoped for. The curve of the wing is not as pronounced as the OE wings, but I can live with this. On a more positive note, the bonnet (Glass Fibre and from Spoox) is spot on and fits as good as any OE bonnet. It even has the hinge bracket holes drilled in the exact location!

 

I fitted the 434s, just to see how close they are to the wheel arche edge...

Pretty close.

 

Next up, I plan on cutting the rear arches to accommodate the extra width of the wheels. Any tips on how to do (and not to do!) this, would be most welcome...

Being a Euro Rallye owner, I think I'd get some gti wings on it and a set of proper euro rallye arches as the fit really spoils the car.

I'd rather persevere with them, as they've cost me quite a bit so far and I've spent a fair bit of time on them. Plus, in principle, I still think the integrated Rallye Arch is a more elegant solution to sticking some arches onto a metal wing.

If I were to do this all again, with the benefit of hindsight, that's exactly I'd do! It does seem madness that anyone would go to the expense of fitting these wings and having them painted just to save a couple of kilos, but have them looking as out-of-line as they do...

Cheers, I hope a respray of the front end will help and once the decals are applied, perhaps the shut-lines wont be so obvious! Trouble is, being a white car, they're always going to stand out more.

Bet you'll notice the difference in turn in though mate with 2 kg less up front ...should improve turn in also love the wheels.. keep up the good work :)

Just a quick update, as I haven't had a great deal of time (nor money!) to spend on the Rallye lately - although it is now (perhaps :wub: ) in the final stages.

 

Over the last few weeks, I've been preparing the rear arches. First up, I had to cut the rear arches in order to fit the 15" 6.75J wheels (Non-GTI arches are quite a bit smaller than GTI arches). I originally intended to let a mate loose on it, with his grinder. But being my usual impatient self, I dug out a pair of old 'tin-snips' and had a go a cutting the arches by hand.

I cut about 2" away from the arch:

I then cut a series of 'tabs', about 1" each, and folded them in towards the inner arche. The bare edges were then sealed by a few coats of Hammerite and a fair share of silicone sealant. As the rear arch is going to be hidden by the new fibre glass arches, I wasn't too bothered about a perfect finish.

The bumpers are off again (new ones in the back of the car, old ones on for driving to the paint shop), as it is currently in the local body shop having the front end, together with the rear arches, re-sprayed. Below is a pic of the car looking rather sorry for itself, ready for the body shop.
