dcc 855 Posted June 18, 2008 I have spent the last 5-6 weeks removing my engine, changing the head gasket and replacing it, with new cam belt, water pump, tensioners and various other bits. tonight i finally came to a point where i was ready to refill it with life ( water, oil and petrol), poured in 5ltrs of oil, set about with the hosepipe to fill the rad... when all of a sudden, bucket loads of water comes out the back of the engine. the rear left headbolt, with the extra large spacer to clear the water pump housing is where it seems to be coming from, F**K! i spent extra time and care to make sure i didnt do any damage to it, refitted the right washer (its almost 2x the size of the others). SO! this is where i need the help... I have 3 options... 1) Sell the car 2) 16 valve it 3) replace it with an 8v I know everyone will be saying " mi16 it" or "gti6 it", i dont really have enough money to take it to somewhere to get it done, and i cant afford to spend the same ammount of time getting through it my self. ( cannot do the wiring, nor can i weld the exhaust manifold) Are there people who will do the work for reasonable ammounts of money if i buy a new engine? if not, i guess i will be either scrapping her, or breaking her! damn shame to be honest! cheers for any replies, Dan.
