Pug_Power_Dave 0 Posted June 18, 2008 Im having issues getting the old wheel bearing casing out of the upright, when i took the circlip and hub off the middle all fell apart, i've managed to carfully cut the casing off the hub, but cant get into the upright with my grinder well enough to make any progress cutting through the casing in there! And it's pretty hard metal so drilling / hacksawing seems to be out. I've tried heat on it and then hitting it, and now it's in the freezer to see if that makes it any looser, it's also had a good soaking of wd40, but to no avail! doesnt help with the fact there is not alot to get at to try hitting it out!! Any advise / methods you have used when in this situation would be most helpful! Cheers Dave
welshpug 1,657 Posted June 18, 2008 take the remains of the inner race + bearing and put it back in the outer side of the casing, use a press to get it out.
chris1986 1 Posted June 18, 2008 yeah a press is what you need, take it to a garage and they should do it all for you for not so much or free if they're nice
