TaffyTim 6 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Ive had all 4 wheels reconditioned. After having the tyres fitted I can not get the 2 offside wheels off (to be swapped for my wheels with R888's). The wheels are stuck fast ans no amount of pulling at them is having any effect. Ive even taken the bolts off the rear and slowly dropped it back to the ground, the wheels take the weight of the car without the bolts!!! Suggestions please. welshpug 1,657 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) you need a rubber mallet or a lump hammer and a piece of wood, I guess there was no anti-seize between the disc and the wheel. other option of to fit 4 bolts, and ever so slightly loose, drive round in circles slowly with someone watching each particular wheel till they come loose, they will usually clonk and move visibly when they loosen, done this on an 18t Scania and a renault premium!! MerlinGTI 3 Posted June 18, 2008 Or just stop being a big girl and give it a kick. uh hu! put the bolts in a few turns only, the kick the tyre whilst sitting down, rotate and do again although the tyre monkeys probally didnt help matters, your probally find it was actually the refurb thats caused this! Give me some credit!! Im going to have another pop at it tonight, I'll fill the tank up with fuel and my jerry cans and keep them on board to give it a bit more weight. Heres hoping. Paintguy 0 Posted June 18, 2008 The front will be easy, especially if you have PAS. Wheels off the ground, one bolt on a few turns to stop the wheel falling fully off. Turn steering to full lock one way, wedge a peice of wood betwen the wheel and the chassis/subframe, then turn the steering wheel against it. TaffyTim 6 Posted June 18, 2008 I did the driving with loose nuts trick today. The front wheel came loose and is now fine. The rear would not budge. I drove forwards and backwards in circles and in sharp turns. Its still stuck fast. The wood and heavy hammer approach sounds fun but i think i will knock the car off its jack. welshpug 1,657 Posted June 18, 2008 should be, if you have any spare wheels place them under the sill to prevent it from falling to the ground were it to come off the stand. piece of 4x2 and a lump hammer on the inside, a few firm blows at 180 degrees should do the trick (put it in gear with the wheels chocked but handbrake off) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
