Head Gasket Has Gone....

Recommended Posts

jshep205gti

Happy days... the head gasket went on my car last week!

The friend that took stripped the head for a skim has noticed that the cam is worn badly (one of the "bits" that open/close a valve has worn itself almost round) as well as what he refers to as a cam bucket.

My local scrappy have no 205's in. So basically I am trying to track down a good camshaft with a couple of buckets.

Are there any unwanted engines in or around Hereford that I can have said parts from?!??!

Or even someone that has those parts and could post them to me?!?! I can paypal a payment instantly if that helps!?!?!?

Bloody cars!!!

Thank you muchly

Shep

A mate of mine lives in Hereford and did have a dead-ish 1600 GTI engine that may well have a useable camshaft in it.

I'll PM you his email address, worth a try.

I've just spoken to him and he is expecting an email from you. He does still have the engine in question so you may well be in luck.

Your oil rail above the cam will have a blockage in it. Make sure you clean all the pin holes in it before you put it back together, or the same will happen again.

Good way to check is to turn the engine over by hand with the rocker cover off and check theres oil coming from the spray bar.
