djinuk 2 Posted June 15, 2008 My 205 recently has been feeling less rigid and tied to the road, driving in a straight line is becoming a task, and coming on and off the power is causing the car to torque steer really badly. All in all it just feels like the whole front end is loose, my friend is going to check my tracking, and whilst at it hes going to examine my track rod ends and wishbones, any other ideas what it could be or do you think that in doing them we will have hit the nail on the head, the front end is sat on avo coilovers. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 16, 2008 If it isn't the wishbone bushes check the hub balljoint holes aren't ovalled highlighting some play & making it unstable. Graham.
Doc-Evil 0 Posted June 16, 2008 My 205 recently has been feeling less rigid and tied to the road, driving in a straight line is becoming a task, and coming on and off the power is causing the car to torque steer really badly. All in all it just feels like the whole front end is loose, my friend is going to check my tracking, and whilst at it hes going to examine my track rod ends and wishbones, any other ideas what it could be or do you think that in doing them we will have hit the nail on the head, the front end is sat on avo coilovers. Our latest one9 suffered really badly from these symptoms and would also weave and dart about under braking as well as change lanes using the throttle - after swapping two sets of wishbones (i thought it was the bushings as it generally is) but we found to our horror that the hub had cracked where the pinch bolt fastens the hub around the ball joint !! - this one gave us far warning - lasting a full 12 weeks before we found it when swapping the new wishbones after going around the whole car. If you don't find any cracking (fingers crossed you don't) then it will most likely be the wishbones (perished bushes and or play in the ball joint), the track rod ends and/or the top mount rubber donuts. There's plenty of other stuff but these are the most reasonable cause's. Your mate should be able to find all of these symptoms when probing with the pry bar just remember to get the tracking down once you've replaced the knackered bits
