Rich_p 23 Posted June 13, 2008 Just after opinions really. The car does seem to have been lowered all round as it's on replacement suspention but I think it looks more nose down than the standard stance. I need the front/rear height difference to be at the optimum for handling so I need to know if I need to fiddle with the rear ride height. It does feel a little light at the back and personally I feel it needs to go down a little still.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2008 It looks low already - I think it looks alright, it will drop a little when you get in it I suppose too.
welshpug 1,657 Posted June 13, 2008 be careful it doesn't catch at the rear of the arch if its on 195's, seen plenty of 309's with rusty arches because of that.
kate205gti 4 Posted June 13, 2008 the back looks a little too low already front looks ok - id raise the back if anything!
Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2008 Remember the top of the arches on the rear are lower than the front arches. IMO, although it may be my fading 10/10 vision, the front looks too low and needs jacking up a bit to match the back. Easiest way to tell is the alloy centres against the sill. Alastairh 47 Posted June 13, 2008 Front is too low. Don't judge by the arches. Judge by how level the sill is. Al
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Arent FWD cars meant to understeer less if the front is a bit lower than the back? EDIT: Is that 405 aerofoil on the back? Edited June 13, 2008 by KRISKARRERA
Rich_p 23 Posted June 13, 2008 Arent FWD cars meant to understeer less if the front is a bit lower than the back? EDIT: Is that 405 aerofoil on the back? I am judging all this on the sill and by looking at the the back looks a lot higher. I'd rather lower the back than raise the front as it's a track toy and isn't used day to day so ground clearance/comfort etc isn't an issue. Having the front slightly lower will aid turn in as far as I am aware. I'd like to know the optimum front rear height difference based on the sill, eg front 10mm lower than the rear. I think it is a 405 wing, it isn't the correct Gti boot lid on there. To answer the other comment it's still on 185's so the arches are fine.
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted June 13, 2008 Petrol tank full? Spare wheel still attached? 309 GTI's always look really low at the back, though I think the lower arch might just make it look that way.
