1.6 And 1.9 Heads/cams The Same?

I'm sure this has been mentioned on here hundreds of times, but I can't find a definitive answer.

 

Will a later (ie 115bhp) 1.6 head and cam be a straight swap onto a 1.9 block?

And while I'm at it, will a BE3 gearbox directly replace a BE1 'box, or is there more to it than that?

Yes - the 115hp 1.6 and 1.9 GTi heads are the same, and the cams are the same fit although a slightly different profile

Yes, but you'll need to change the release bearing, clutch pedal, and clutch cable (and preferably the gear lever too)

Thanks, if the cams are a different profile, would it be detrimental to fit a 1.6 cam to a 1.9?

No it wouldn't although you would need to re-shim the head, also its hard to find a good 1.6 cam, they tend to wear pretty badly. Although i do happen to have one hehe
