Arb End Plate.

I found that peugoet can do these for £25 each!? but I'm so desperate for rear suspension that I might just do it,

 

They can't tell me which side has 30 splines and which has 28. As my end plate was welded up It could have been put bk on different sides.

 

Does anyone know what the part number is, or which side the smaller of the two with 28 splines goes?

Smaller end plate on the Left IIRC, If its been made to the same spec as an O.E ARB it should have a shoulder on the left hand end before the splines not a tapered end.

 

you have an ARB and one end plate right?

 

the end plate you have left will only fit one end of the ARB, then count the splines on the end it doesn't fit.

25mm item, taper on both ends, which imo look dodgey as hell, not got a nice radius on them, if it snaps it snaps.... again.

 

I'm after the 28 splined one as it is welded to a snapped arb

 

So the left one you reckon, can you confirm this for me, would be very grateful.

FYI, according to the old 205 Haynes manual there is an ident line on the left hand ARB plate. I couldn't see it though as they are rusty.

 

Interesting you say about the different number of splines on each end. I threw my new beam (new GrpA mounts, ZX arms and 24mm ARB) together yesterday and was having trouble lining up the ARB plates, now the right arm sites 5mm higher than the left.

Worth checking the dummy shock length is the same, I know Ant's had issues with aRB's seemingly not lining up and it being the beam weas a tooth or so out on the torsion bars :s

surely whenu fir the arb both wheels are off the ground and the beam is drooping the same on both sides, so you line the end plate up to the trailing arm with arb attached, then pu the other end plate on lining it up with the trailing arm?

 

Or am I missing something? hopefully wont have ride height issues but will wait and see.

From the beams i've done, even standard ones can be like that.

 

I just double check the ride height shock length is right and let it be.

The arb's have a different number of splines on each end just like the torsion bars, if they don't line up straight away with no extra persuasion then you need to remove the end plate & turn it one spline at a time until they both fit & can be bolted to the radius arms with no need to move the radus arm for them to line up with the holes.

bear in mind that there is an odd number of splines on each end, hence if you have removed both end plates the difficulty in lining them back up.

Managed to get the shock distance within 2/3mm of each other and that took hassle. I'm sure that should be OK, especially when the cars back on the ground.

Just to confirm which end plate is which, the L/H one has 28 splines & the R/H 30.
