Central Locking Has A Mind Of It's Own...

Recommended Posts

Ethos

Hi guys,

So the central locking likes to unlock/lock itself randomly, sometimes about 10 times in a row (s*it myself the first time this happened!).

Any ideas, not too sure how to troubleshoot a problem like this. Although it does sound like the boot isn't properly shut, but when I try it- it's seated fine.

Thanks :(

Bump!

Ignore the "boot isn't shut properly" part.

Still happening but more rare than it was.

Any ideas, guessing a wire is shorting on something?

I once had the same, but only after strong rain, or a wash.

found out, that the Doorloom was scrubbed through and was shorting some cables in the wet puddles.

My battery is not the strongest and sometimes when it's strained and I try to start up I get this phonomenom. It doesn't do it all the time probably once a month, but thats what i have put mine down to.

jimistdt, funny you should say this. I got this mostly when the battery used to drain with the 1.6 engine.

The alternator ring connector was in a v.bad state (I need a new power loom soon).

I thought it could be this so plopped the battery on charge, but within 2 minutes it was saying full charge... so not to sure it is that now.

Guess I should check cables + water then!!

I asked the same question about a year ago. The concensus then was that one of the linkages or locks was a bit 'sticky' and that a good clean and/or lube would sort it out. I couldn't tell you if that concensus was correct as I've hardly used the car since.

Could it be a dodgy fuse? , not sure what else runs off the central locking fuse....
