BusEngineer 7 Posted June 10, 2008 Im in the process of gathering together some bits to sort the suspension and brakes on my '89 1.6. Im fitting 1.9 calipers to the front and while replacing the rear beam im going to discs on the back. I want braided lines, so can i just buy a set for a 1.9 or will the front hoses not fit onto the solid pipe in the front arches?? All help greatly appreciated
Baz 421 Posted June 10, 2008 Ya as you say just buy the 6 piece 1.9 set.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 10, 2008 The front hoses will fit fine but one of the rear hoses from the 1.9 kit won't fit (the one that goes round the beam on the nearside) because of the single line to the rear on the 1.6 so you either need a single hose from the 1.6 kit or an M10 x 1mm union / adaptor to connect the 1.9 hose. Picture here Graham.
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted June 10, 2008 Sure i remember reading somewhere that Miles doesn't bother with the rear caliper flexy's and just runs copper from the beam flexy pipes, in which case you could just buy the 1.6 kit and it all fit fine....... Miles 331 1 Cars Posted June 10, 2008 As Mr T has said, you can run solid copper lines to the caliper's, just like all 106's and 306's to name a few as having the flexi there does nothing as nothing moves
jonnie205 1 Posted June 10, 2008 yeah always wondered why the 205's have flexis to rear callipers but 106 and 306 dont, i suppose the calliper will slide a small amount as pads wear but hardly much at all
