First Cambelt Change Help.

Hi all ive removed my mi16 engine and while its out i want to change the cambelt and tensioners.

 

What do you guy use to lock the cams off to stop them moving out of time ?

I use the downpipe bolts to lock the cams.

I made some timing pins on the lathe, but some drill bits with some tape wrapped around will also do the job.

Starter / gearbox mounting bolts are also 10mm & good for the timing pins if you have some spare to cut the threads off so just the plain shoulder is left.

Veering slightly but what size are the allen key type tensioners? I seem to remember about a size 6?

 

My job to do when i feel like doing it.... found source of water leak, the bloody pump :rolleyes:

IIRC they are 6mm allen head, same as on the Mi16 but easily replaced with 13mm bolts to make it easier.

If you do this get the proper bolts from Peugeot, they are not expensive but do come with the proper belville locking washer.
