ricky123 0 Posted June 7, 2008 Found this head while clearing out a mates garage, it looks like the same as the one on my 205 at first glance but the way the inlet manifold mounts seems to be different so i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what it was off?? i have been told it was of a 1.9 but i thought 1.6 and 1.9 heads were the same?? http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc274/t...16/DSC00443.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc274/t...16/DSC00442.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc274/t...16/DSC00438.jpg cheers
ricky123 0 Posted June 7, 2008 405 SRi maybe if it is off a 405 would it fit my 205?? and if it does would i need an inlet manifold off one to make it fit??
jackherer 543 Posted June 7, 2008 I think the compression ratio would be unusable if you put a 405 SRi (XU9J2) head on a 205 GTI 1.9 (XU9JA) block. I suppose it could be an XU10 (2.0) head in which case it is usable on a 205 block. Someone that knows about 8Vs will post soon probably
DamirGTI 342 Posted June 7, 2008 (edited) According to the paint rings on the camshaft (of course if it's still OE fitment ..) it could be : XU10 RFX , RFU or R6D head or XU9 D6D .. Rgs ! Damir Edited June 7, 2008 by DamirGTI
ricky123 0 Posted June 7, 2008 my mate is pretty sure its an OE cam an thinks its could be off a 405 sri, he was going to put it on his 1.6 as the guy he bought it off a while back said its got bigger valves than his head. Would it go on my 1.6 without to much messing about or is there not realy much power gain from it??
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted June 7, 2008 It will be a 405/BX 1.9 Injection engine with that cam cover on the end, what's the date stamp on the back of it? Not sure who told you about valve sizes but they where talking out there rear end and the head is a downgrade from the std head in std form
ricky123 0 Posted June 7, 2008 the date stamp on the back says 31/10/90, what would it be worth? as i havent got space for it realy so might just stick it on ebay
Sandy 191 Posted June 8, 2008 Mark Shillaber typically got 10-15bhp more with these heads over his similarly spec'd GTI heads. But it needs porting to be right and you need to skim the head down and make intruder pistons to get the CR into a useful figure, so only any use as part of a complete engine build. I'm using one of these (ported) on Dan's turbo 1.8. I'd have it for stock if the price is right.
