Dizzy Cap Wear

Recommended Posts

chrisj21

Ive been getting a missfire with my 1.9 recently so i thought it about time i had a look into it.

I found that two of the pins inside the dizzy cap have completely worn away but the other two are like new.

I also had the exact same problem on my 1.6.

Just wondering if its a usual thing or if its the way the dizzy cap has been fitted?

Any experiance?

Chris

I assume it is 2 in succession. If so, then it's simply an alignment issue with the distributor spindle.

Not too much to worry about. Just the cost of a dizzy cap, a little more often than is normal.

Yes its one after the other rather than one then miss one then the other.

Thats why i asked if it was a fitting error as its seems the dizzy cap is more two one side.

oh well as long as its nothing major thats ok.

put a new one and all is ok now.

Cheers

on my gti engine, i kept going through rotor arms, they were catching on the dizzy cap, i thought it was my driving at first constantly on the redline lol , but i dont see how that could affect it....
