pete1986 2 Posted June 6, 2008 I presume u mean the badge and... well the whole car tbh, being a fake griffe. Its looking good though steve, especially those wheels after your many hours of hard work. Id love a lazer green like that. Seeing that second photo has enlightened me to just how much wiring there is behind the dash. I've had a ph2 dash sitting in my garage for months now, but i just keep putting it off, and that photo definately hasnt helped! Cheers 'mate'! lol How much of a mission is it to do the swap? vern 0 Posted June 6, 2008 Its not that bad a job, most of the wiring stays in place, i think it only took a day to do mine, would advise to have the front seats out just to make life easier.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted June 6, 2008 Looks good, I really like Lazer Green. The rear quarter of a 205 is probably one of the most distinctive designs ever IMO.

steve@cornwall 100 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Pete- it's really not difficult to change the dash, as said, most of that wiring stays in place. On top of that, I needed to unbind the loom, drop down the ECU and am replacing the sections of loom from which I'm removing a rather OTT Clifford alarm here's a pic from straight forward dash removal, much tidier, eh? (note the steering wheel is off- helps a lot IMO) I'm afraid the car is going back to standard ride height - beam on the car isn't mine!!! and lowered isn't suitable for me Tried it and don't like the sound of scraping exhaust) I don't usually like putting the wrong badges on a car, and naming it something it's pretty obviously not, but these just look sooo much better than the red gti ones.I was going to go with plain black badges, but saw the griffe vinyls on ebay.fr and thought "oh, yes!" I'm VERY pleased with the way it's turning out, I've even spent a few quid ( and I owe Danpug Big-time for the shell- thanks Dan ) Grrrr. another unwanted pic! uploded twice, but not double clicked on "manage attachments", no sign of it when posting or editing. How do I remove it? Edited June 6, 2008 by jackherer

Click on manage attachments and click the red X by the second image. It is weird that it wasn't shown in the edit box as attachment: in [] tags (I edited your second post but not the first one as it sparked some discussion)

I agree, its what makes the 205 look soo good imo. An original design and one that hasnt really been copied much simce. (note the steering wheel is off- helps a lot IMO) I know that the wiring stays in place its just a question of matching it all back up again. Obviously making a note of whats for what will help no end but still, its no fun job. I remember reading something about fannying around with the heater matrix when swapping dash's, is this neccessary? Also, sometimes when i turn the heating on i get a whurring noise so its blatently worth sorting this at the same time. Would it be the heater blower motor? Sorry for the hijack steve, i know what u mean about 'fake' badges though... its like on top gear when clarkson had that mazarati (sp?) something or other with a fake badge from the high end model (the one only produed 80bhp on the rolling road... hee hee!) I saw that Maserati for sale at a specialist car breakers, apparently it IS an SS and Clarkson was wrong... http://www.eurospares.co.uk/breaking2.asp?page=19 (There used to be a scathing write up about Clarkson getting it wrong on that page but they've obviously been asked to remove it)
steve@cornwall 100 Posted June 7, 2008 Spent 3 hours on the car today. replaced some of the loom, tidied it all up and rebound the loom, took off and put back inlet to remove stuck pintle cap - and replaced the dash - not too difficult!
